Course Overview

Our Asbestos Awareness Training course is designed to educate learners in the hazards associated with asbestos, the health risks it poses, and the necessary safety measures to handle asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) safely. This course is essential for workers in construction, maintenance, and any industry where asbestos exposure is a potential risk.

Upon successful completion of the course learners will receive a certificate of completion, valid for one year, demonstrating their knowledge and awareness of asbestos safety practices. We also offer this as an online course at just £35 + VAT.

What will I learn:

Introduction to Asbestos – Definition and history of asbestos use and types of asbestos and their properties
Understanding the Health Risks – Diseases caused by asbestos exposure (asbestosis, mesothelioma, lung cancer) and latency periods and risk factors
Asbestos Identification – Common locations and uses of asbestos in buildings and products, visual identification techniques and use of sampling and laboratory analysis
Understanding the relevant regulations, guidance and approved codes of practice including employer and employee responsibilities under the law
Understanding Asbestos Management – Best practices for managing ACMs, control measures to minimize exposure and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
Understanding Emergency Procedures – Steps to take in the event of accidental disturbance of asbestos, decontamination procedures, incident reporting protocols
