Summary

The implementation of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) commenced on April 6th, 2015. The inclusion of the Principal Designer role emphasises safety not only in construction but also in design phases. Regardless of project size, CDM 2015 applies universally and encompasses ALL construction projects, including domestic undertakings. The CDM 2015 regulations put greater emphasis on the client for the construction process with additional duties placed upon them.

Under the CDM Regulations, all involved parties bear responsibilities for the Health and Safety of a construction project. Clients, designers, Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, Contractors, and self-employed individuals are all subject to duties outlined in the Regulations.
